IMPACT OF THE PROPHET’S (PBUH) INTER-PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP IN THE PROPAGATION OF ISLAM. (PART 2)

Praise is for Allah, we thank and seek His help, we seek refuge in Him from the evils of our souls and deeds. Whom Allah guides, no one can mislead and whom He misleads no one can guide aright. I testify there is no god but Allah solely, without any partner. I testify also that Muhammad was the servant and messenger of Allah. Muhammad was sent as mercy to the entire universe, as giver of good news and Warner from painful chastisement and caller to the ways of Allah and he was the illuminating light, on the approval of Allah. May Allah bestow grace and peace in manifolds on him, his families, companions and all followers of his guidance till the day of recompense. And after that, O Muslims keep your duty to your Lord dearly in utmost piety. Revere your Lord, comply with His commands, and avoid His prohibitions. Taqwa (fear of Allah) enriches dignity in this life and the hereafter, Allah will grant you ease in all your difficult affairs for keeping taqwa. Allah says: { وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ يُسْرًا } (الطلاق 4) . “and whoever fears Allah, He grants him ease in all his affairs.” (At-Talaaq: 4) Dear Muslims, it is pertinent to know that there is no alternative route to achieving success, greatness and ultimately paradise except in the following and obedience to the prophet. {لَّقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لّمَن كَانَ يَرْجُو اللَّهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الاْخِرَ وَذَكَرَ اللَّهَ كَثِيراً} (الأحزاب:21) “Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the Praise of Allah.” (33:21) An objective peruser of the prophet’s biography and his personality will come to a no other conclusion than to affirm him as the greatest personality in human history. The inter-personal relationship he established influenced people’s acceptance of his call in a big way. Some of these qualities could be explained as follow: His Humility and kindness The prophet was a humble personality who never strove for the world and its adornments. Had he wished for that, he would have amassed a treasure from it, however, he only longed for provisions in the sight of Allah and the home of the hereafter. Consequently, Allah granted him the honour of this world and the hereafter, and he equally honoured him by linking his name to His name. Mujahid, in his commentary on the word of Allah: { وَرَفَعْنَا لكَ ذِكْرَكَ}(الضحى : 4) “And we raised high for you your esteem remembrance” (94:4) “… They will not mention My Name except along with your name- I testify there is no god except Allah and I testify that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah” (Imam Muhammad Idris Ash-Shaafi’ in his masnad, pg; 233) SOME MANIFESTATIONS OF HUMILITY IN HIS METHODOLOGY OF DAWAH While the prophet called to Islam in Makkah, the weak and the poor people of the land formed the majority of his adherents. The prime factors that aided in this were his soft treatment, gentleness, and style of teaching, until he was able to establish firm faith in their hearts, and so were the followers of the prophets. Allah mandated him to be in their company and gathering saying: { وَاصْبِرْ نَفْسَكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِالغَدَاةِ وَالعَشِيِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُ وَلاَ تَعْدُ عَينَاكَ عَنْهُمْ تُرِيدُ زِينَةَ الحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا } (الكهف : 28) “And keep thy soul content with those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His Face; and let not thine eyes pass beyond them, seeking the pomp and glitter of this Life; no obey any whose heart We have permitted to neglect the remembrance of Us, one who follows his own desires, whose case has gone beyond all bounds.” (18:28) From Sa’d, he said: “We were a group of six people with the prophet (PBUH) when the pagans said to him (PBUH): “Send away these people, they should not be audacious to stay over us” ; Myself, Ibn Mas’ud, a man from Huthayl, Bilaal, and two other men I may not mention their names. Then a thought came to the prophet’s mind as permitted by Allah, and Allah- the exalted revealed: { وَلاَ تَطْرُدِ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُمْ بِالغَدَاةِ وَالعَشِيِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُ } “Do not send away those who call their Lord in the morning and the night seeking His face” (18:) (Muslim; the book of merits). Once the prophet (PBUH) was preoccupied with one of the great personalities among the Quraish, calling him to Islam, while Abdullah bn Ummi Maktuum- the blind companion approached, but the prophet (PBUH) turned away from him, only to concentrate on the dignified personality. But Allah reproved him mildly on this action. (Ibn Hibaan; 2/293) In the described manner Allah perfected his manners and characters. The prophet therefore became humble to people and they in turn accepted and believed in his call, they trusted him and assisted him until Islam established its reign over virtually all the Arabian peninsula for many years. Thereafter, Islam stretched beyond the Arabian Peninsula during the era of the rightly guided caliphs, it reached Damascus, Iraq and Egypt which were the world’s major capitals during this period. HIS NON-DISPLAY OF SUPERIORITY OVER HIS COMPANIONS Part of the prophet’s manifestations of humility is that he never distinguished himself from his companions either through his clothing, or in the gathering, or in other manners. A stranger approaching his gathering would not be able to identify him among his companions. Dhomaan bn Tha’labah came to them riding on his donkey, he made it kneel down in the mosque and tied it. Then he said to those within the mosque: “Who among you is Muhammad? ” while the Prophet (PBUH) was reclining in their midst. They said: “This white man reclining” (Bukhari 1/35). This scenario seems to be repeated always, where the companions took up the responsibility of having to identify him in order not to stress the one who have come to ask him questions. From Abu Dharr and Abu Hurairah, they said: “The prophet (PBUH) would sit amidst his companions and a stranger would approach without recognising him (the prophet) among them until he asks. So we requested the prophet (PBUH) that we make a place for him by which a stranger could recognize him when he comes.” “And we built a bench for him made with the clay, and he would sit on it while we sit on his flanks. (Abu Dawud; 4/225) The sight of the prophet was most lovely to behold among people such that none could be compared to him in this respect. When they sight him (PBUH) they would not stand for him as a sign of respect, because they know he dislikes that practice. (Bukhari) IN THE COMPANY OF THE WIDOW, THE POOR AND THE CHILDREN The Prophet (PBUH) would see to the needs and supports of the widow, the poor and the children. Abdullah bin Abi Aofaa said: “The Prophet (PBUH) never scorns or refuses to walk with the widow and the poor to cater for their needs” (Daarimi 1/48). Through this example, the prophet sets the finest example of humility and softness, as a teacher and a guide he said: “No one is humble for Allah, except that Allah raises him” (Muslim; 4/201). Anas related that: “A woman had a feeling bothering her mind, and she said: “O Messenger of Allah! I have an issue for you? And he said: “O mother of so and so! Which side of the road do you wish (to stay) as I (listen) to fulfill your need? And he stayed with her until he had completed her need.” Anas bn Malik also reported that when Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) had completed his dawn prayer, the servants of Medina came to him with utensils containing water, and no utensil was brought in which he did not dip his hand; and sometime they came in the cold dawn (and he did not feel reluctant in acceding to their request even in the cold weather and dipped his hand in them. (Muslim 4/1812) This scenario shows the sublime character of the messenger of Allah and his humility drawing closer, the young and old and the servants and the women. HIS VISITATION TO HIS COMPANIONS, HONOURING THEIR INVITATIONS AND EATING OF ANY FOOD He responded to whoever invited him without refusal, no matter how insignificant it may be. Anas bn Malik related that a tailor in madinah invited the messenger of Allah (PBUH) to a banquet done with only bread and barley …” (Ibn Hibban, 12/103) HIS SERVICE TO HIS HOUSEHOLD He was like every mortal in his household, he handles his personal needs and at times he equally assisted his family in the domestic chores. He set forth through this action an exemplary model for people to emulate. The prophet said: “The best among you is the best in relating with his family, and I am the best of you (in relating) with his family” Al-aswad said: “I asked Aishah: What does the prophet do at home? She said: “He used to be at the services of his family, and when it is time for solat (prayer), he leaves” (Bukhari 1/239) In another narration she said: “The prophet used to amend his sandal, he sews his cloth, and he works at home the way anyone of you works at home” (Ibn Hibbaan; 14/351) Also in another narration she said: “He is no other than a mortal; he removes lice from his cloth, he milks his cattle, and serves himself” (Ibn Hibbaan; 12/488) It is morally required from us- servants of Allah to show humility to people, following the path of the messenger of Allah. You should be gentle to them and wish them good and give good advice on all matters. It is also required that you accord every person of honour and virtue the deserving respect, so that you could be acceptable and your words trusted so that the beauty of Islam could be behold by your targets. O dear enjoiners of goodness and forbidders of evil, humility is sacrosanct, beware, do not resolve to humiliation and debasement of people, do not have evil intention in your effort at calling to goodness. Enjoin goodness and forbid evil according to God’s law, let humility be your lead in all your affairs. Let your strive to be enjoining good and forbidding evil emanate out of your kindness, goodness, and compassion and love for people and ultimately rescuing them from hellfire. Do not rejoice at their misfortune, do not make jest of them, do not despise them, and only address them with soft and gentle speech. Allah said to the prophets in addressing his greatest enemy: {فَقُولاَ لَهُ قَوْلاً لَّيّنًا لَّعَلَّهُ يَتَذَكَّرُ أَوْ يَخْشَى} (طه:44). “But speak to him mildly; perchance he may take warning or fear (Allah)." (Taha: 44). O you scholars, you are the custodians of knowledge, let knowledge be a reason for humility on your part, and a cause for lowering your wings. If knowledge calls to humility, then it becomes useful and beneficial but if it calls to arrogance, self pride and being fooled by self deceit it becomes useless and evil, may Allah forbid. However, useful knowledge guides to humility. May Allah make the Qur’an a blessing for all of us and profit us from its verses and wise remembrance. Having concluded this speech, I seek forgiveness from Allah on my behalf and for you all and for all Muslims, He is all-forgiving, most-merciful. The second sermon All praises are for Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify there is no god except Allah solely exclusive without any partner; He is the protector of the righteous. I testify also that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, may Allah bestow His blessing on him, his household and all his companions. Thereafter, I hereby admonish you all and myself on fear of Allah and obedience to Him and I warn you against disobedience to Allah and contravening Him. O You Muslims, if damage is doubled, the evil becomes manifold and Allah alone is the only saviour from such reality. Allah says: { أَمَّنْ يُجِيبُ الْمُضْطَرَّ إِذَا دَعَاهُ وَيَكْشِفُ السُّوءَ وَيَجْعَلُكُمْ خُلَفَاءَ اْلأَرْضِ أَإِلَهٌ مَعَ اللَّهِ قَلِيلاً مَا تَذَكَّرُونَ}(النمل 62) “Or, Who listens to the (soul) distressed when it calls on Him, and Who relieves its suffering, and makes you (mankind) inheritors of the earth? (Can there be another) god besides Allah? Little it is that ye heed!” (27:62) { وَإِنْ يَمْسَسْكَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُ إِلاَّ هُوَ وَإِنْ يَمْسَسْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ , وَهُوَ الْقَاهِرُ فَوْقَ عِبَادِهِ وَهُوَ الْحَكِيمُ الْخَبِير} (الأنعام : 17 - 18) "If Allah touch thee with affliction, none can remove it but He; if He touch thee with happiness, He hath power over all things. "He is the irresistible, (watching) from above over His worshippers; and He is the Wise, acquainted with all things." (6:17-18) When grief and sorrow become successive and unending there remains no other than Allah to wipe it … { وَذَا النُّونِ إِذْ ذَهَبَ مُغَاضِبًا فَظَنَّ أَنْ لَنْ نَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ فَنَادَى فِي الظُّلُمَاتِ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ , فَاسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُ وَنَجَّيْنَاهُ مِنَ الْغَمِّ وَكَذَلِكَ نُنْجِي الْمُؤْمِنِينَ } (الأنبياء : 87 - 88) “And remember Zun-nun, when he departed in wrath: He imagined that We had no power over him! But he cried through the deptHs of darkness, "There is no god but thou: glory to thee: I was indeed wrong!" So We listened to him: and delivered him from distress: and thus do We deliver those who have faith.” (21:87-88). When calamity and trials descend there is no one except Allah to divert it … “So his Lord hearkened to him (in his prayer), and turned away from him their snare: Verily He heareth and knoweth (all things).” (12:34). Whenever adversity and suffering increases there is no refuge except in Allah. { فَاسْتَجَابَ لَهُ رَبُّهُ فَصَرَفَ عَنْهُ كَيْدَهُنَّ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ }(يوسف : 34) “Hasten ye then (at once) to Allah: I am from Him a Warner to you, clear and open!“ (51:50). Connection with Allah, the exalted, certainty over His promises, hope in Him for victory, expressing satisfaction for His decrees, and being fearful of his punishment, and relying on His power and might. All these are the reliable and trusted foundations for anyone in every confused and distress situation. May Allah forgive the believing men and believing women, Muslim men and women, the living and the dead, You are All-hearing and Ever-responsive. O Allah, honour Islam and the Muslims, humiliate idolatry and the idolaters, and destroy your enemies- the enemies of Islam, O Lord- the most powerful, most enduring. And make this country- Nigeria safe, and other Muslim lands, through your mercy Oh merciful Lord.

IMPACT OF THE PROPHET’S (PBUH) RELATIONSHIP IN THE PROPAGATION OF ISLAM.

Praise be to Allah Who have perfected His grace on us, He had completed the religion, and made our community the best nation evolved for humanity. He had sent a Messenger from amongst us to read to us the verses, teach us the Book- Qur’an and the wisdom- Sunnah even though we were in manifest error prior to this. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah (SWT) alone, He Has no partner; He is the God of the former and latter generations, The Sustainer of the seven heavens and earths. I equally testify that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was no more than a servant and Messenger of Allah, the seal of all prophets and leader of the messengers. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his families, spouses and companions- eminent personalities of the right wing, and those who follow them in goodness till the day of recompense. Thereafter, I hereby implore everyone and myself to exercise the fear of Allah; therein lies the pleasure of Allah, attainment of Paradise and escape from hellfire. The Holy Qur’an came with the good news thus: “Such is the Garden which We give as an inheritance to those of Our servants who guard against Evil.” (Maryam: 63). O brothers in faith, be informed that a well- grounded study of the prophet’s (PBUH) history, his personality, and benefitting from the potential lessons therein- all derivable from the original texts of the Sunnah- are capable to restore the sense of pride and leadership of the Islamic Ummah and to amend every form of her moral and ethical decadences which were caused by the influx of foreign civilizations dominating every aspects of her education and public orientation with all its might, civilization and communication prowess. The prophet’s unparalleled personality captures every mind owing to its naturally endowed excellent character and reputable human relation, irrespective of religious differences. His expressly balanced disposition in anger and satisfaction, patience and forbearance, played a major role in people’s acceptance of his message and the spread of the religion. This mettle would not come as a surprise, Allah actually purifies him from above the seven heavens thus: { وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَى خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ } (القلم 4 ) “And thou (standest) on an exalted standard of character.” (68: 4) On that premise we would like to respond to what is propagandize today in the west; describing Islam as a religion of barbarism and terrorism. They also claim erroneously that the method of inviting to Islam is not built on any moral standard. We would like to show another bright example of his message which was marred by persons who knew nothing of Islam, due to the actions of some Muslims today. HIS COMPASSION AND MERCY: Dear Muslims, The Prophet was the most compassionate and merciful person. { فَبِمَا رَحْمَة مِّنَ اللهِ لِنْتَ لَهُمْ وَلَو كُنْتَ فَظًّا غَلِيظَ القَلْبِ لانْفَضُّوا مِنْ حَوْلِكَ } (آل عمران159) . “It is part of the Mercy of Allah that thou do deal gently with them Were thou severe or harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about thee” (3:159) This magnificent character endeared his message mostly for peoples’ acceptance. The prophet (PBUH) was distant from violence, hardness or wickedness. Due to his good disposition and honesty, his message penetrated into the houses in Makkah little by little, even into the homes of the eminent persons among the unbelievers in Makkah, they labeled him a sorcerer, breaker of ties between father and son, between brothers, and between a man and his kinsmen. (Seerah bn Hisham; vol 2, pg 105- 106) Brothers in Islam, let us bring forth some thought provoking stages in the history of the prophet (PBUH) to demonstrate his complete compassion, mercy and kindness for his Ummah: HIS COMPASSION AND MERCY TO HIS UNCLE- ABU TALIB Abu Talib was one of the greatest supporters and defenders of the prophet’s (PBUH) message, a reason why he (PBUH) sought for his becoming a Muslim, however that was not to be, but the knowledge of Allah encompasses all that. Saeed bn Musayb related from his father that: “When Abu Talib was about to die, the prophet visited him, he met Abu Jahl and Abdullah bn Umayyah bn Mughira in his presence, then the prophet said: “O my Uncle, say, ‘there is no god except Allah’, a statement I shall use as witness for you in the sight of Allah”. Abu Jahl and Abdullah bn Umayyah said: “O Abu Talib, will you denounce the religion of Abdul- Mutallib?” Allah’s Apostle kept on inviting Abu Talib to say it (i.e. ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah’) while they (Abu Jahl and Abdullah) kept on repeating their statement till Abu Talib said as his last statement that he was on the religion of Abdul Muttalib and refused to say, ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah.‘ (Then Allah’s Apostle said, “I will keep on asking Allah’s forgiveness for you unless I am forbidden (by Allah) to do so.” Then Allah revealed: { مَا كَانَ للنَّبِيِّ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَن يَّسْتَغْفِرُوا لِلمُشْرِكِينَ وَلَو كَانُوا أُولِي قُرْبَى مِن بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَابُ الجَحِيمِ } (التوبة : 113 ) “It is not fitting, for the Prophet and those who believe, that they should pray for forgiveness for Pagans, even though they be of kin, after it is clear to them that they are companions of the Fire.” (9:113) And God also revealed concerning his uncle Abu Talib, directing the message to the Holy Prophet (PBUH): { إِنَّكَ لاَ تَهْدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَكِنَّ اللهَ يَهْدِي مَن يَّشَاءُ ، وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالمُهْتَدِينَ } (القصص : 56) “It is true thou wilt not be able to guide every one, whom thou love; but Allah guides those whom He will and He knows best those who receive guidance.” (28:56) (narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim) Muslim said in Kitaab Al-eeman no. 24 thus: “and in this is a proof for the soundness or validity of the Islam of the one who is about to die but have not reached the gargling stage, also the abolition of praying for forgiveness for Pagans, and also whoever dies as a pagan will be one of the dwellers of hellfire, nothing will suffice to save him from that.” In addition to that, Abu Talib benefitted from his effort with the prophet (PBUH). Abbass bn Abdul- Mutallib (RA) said to the prophet (PBUH): “How have you benefitted your uncle?” he used to defend you and show anger for your sake” The Messenger of Allah (may peace he upon him) said: Yes; he would be in the most shallow part of the Fire: and but for me he would have been in the lowest depth of the Hell.” (narrated by Al-Bukhari 3/1408, in the book of the virtues of the companions, Abu Talib story section (3670). It means that the prophet (PBUH) interceded for him until the torment was reduced as stated in other collections. HIS COMPASSION AND MERCY TO THE JEW MAID BOY: We have in this a wonderful example of the prophet’s humility and mercy to this boy and in the way he invited him to Islam and his concern that he may not die as unbeliever. Anas may Allah be pleased with him said: A Jewish boy who do serve the Prophet, then he became ill, and the prophet visited him, and he sat by his head and said to him: “Accept Islam” he looked at his father who was present, and he (the father) said to him: “Obey Qasim’s father” and he accepted Islam, the prophet then left saying: “Praise be to Allah who saved him from the fire” (Bukhari, 1/455). This shows the Prophet’s kindness, and compassion to people in general which heralded the acceptance of Islam by this lad. HIS COMPASSION AND MERCY TO HIS PEOPLE- THE QURAISHITES: O Ummah of Muhammad! The prophet (PBUH) do worry and grief over his people greatly. Allah says: { عَزِيزٌ عَلَيهِ مَا عَنِتُّمْ حَرِيصٌ عَلَيكُمْ بِالمُؤْمِنِينَ رَؤُوفٌ رَحِيمٌ } (التوبة : 128) . “It grieves him that ye should perish: ardently anxious is he over you: to the Believers is he most kind and merciful.” (9:128) He fear they die unbelievers, the peak of his compassion and mercy is manifested in the passionate manner he invites them, insisting to rescue them from the fire, despite the harm, ridicule and jest he faced from them. On the authority of Ibn ‘Abbas [RA]. He said: "When the following verses were revealed: { وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الأَقْرَبِينَ } (الشعراء 214 ) “And warn your tribe (O Muhammad) of near kindred." [26:214]. Messenger of Allâh (Allah bless him and give him peace) ascended Mount As-Safa and started to call: "O Bani Fahr! O Bani ‘Adi (two septs of Quraish)." Many people gathered and those who couldn’t, sent somebody to report to them. Abu Lahab was also present. The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: "You see, if I were to tell you that there were some horsemen in the valley planning to raid you, will you believe me?" They said: "Yes, we have never experienced any lie from you." He said: "I am a warner to you before a severe torment." Abu Lahab promptly replied: "Perish you all the day! Have you summoned us for such a thing?" The verses were immediately revealed on that occasion, { تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَب وَّتَبَّ ، مَا أَغْنَى عَنْهُ مَالُهُ وَمَا كَسَبَ } (المسد : 1 - 2 ) “Perish the hands of Abu Lahab! Perish he!, No profit to him from all his wealth, and all his gains!” (111:1-2) [Bukhari 4/1887] Another example of his encounter with his people was according to Urwah Ibn al-Zubayr narrated that Aisha, the wife of the Prophet told him thus: “I said to the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him: 'Have you encountered a day harder than the day of the (battle) of Uhud?" The Prophet replied, "Your tribes have troubled me a lot, and the worse trouble was the trouble on the day of 'Aqaba when I presented myself to Ibn 'Abd-Yalail bin 'Abd-Kulal and he did not respond to my demand. So I departed, overwhelmed with excessive sorrow, and proceeded on, and could not relax till I found myself at Qarnath-Tha-alib where I lifted my head towards the sky to see a cloud shading me unexpectedly. I looked up and saw Jubreel in it. He called me saying, 'Allah has heard your people's saying to you, and what they have replied back to you, Allah has sent the Angel of the Mountains to you so that you may order him to do whatever you wish to these people.' The Angel of the Mountains called and greeted me, and then said, "O Muhammad! Order what you wish. If you like, I will let Al-Akh-Shabain (i.e. two mountains) fall on them." The Prophet said, "No but I hope that Allah will let them beget children who will worship Allah Alone, and will worship None besides Him." (narrated by Al-bukhaari and Muslim in their true) In this example is the proof of his mercy and compassion despite severe injury he received, and the ability to retaliate. The prophet continued his message patiently, diligently, without despair, however his sadness stems from the lack of acceptance of majority of his people. Allah thus revealed to him: { لَعَلَّكَ بَاخِع نَّفْسَكَ أَلاَّ يَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ } (الشعراء 3) “It may be thou frettest thy soul with grief, that they do not become Believers.” Ibn kathir said: “This is an amusing word from Allah to his Prophet peace be upon him, regarding lack of faith for those who did not believe among the infidels as Allah said: { فَلاَ تَذهَبْ نَفْسُكَ عَلَيهِمْ حَسَرَاتٍ } (فاطر 8) “So let not thy soul go out in (vainly) sighing after them: for Allah knows well all that they do!” (35:8) similar to the words of Allah as follow: “Thou would only, perchance, fret thyself to death, following after them, in grief, if they believe not in this Message.” (18:6) Mujahid, ‘Ikrimah, Qatadah, ‘Atiyah, Ad-Dahaak and Al-Hassan as well as other commentators said: the statement: { لَعَلَّكَ بَاخِع نَّفْسَكَ } (الشعراء 3) means “to cause yourself death” Allah made this amusement of him because of his griefs and worries over his people, he wish them to be Muslims, he fear for them the painful torment, but Allah made faith a matter decree on His choice. Allah says: {وَلَو شَاءَ رَبُّكَ لآمَنَ مَن فِي الأَرْضِ كُلُّهُمْ جَمِيعًا أَفَأَنْتَ تُكْرِهُ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ } (يونس 99) . “If it had been thy Lord's will, they would all have believed,- all who are on earth! wilt thou then compel mankind, against their will, to believe!” (10:99) This is a great position demonstrated by the prophet (PBUH) despite the hostility but he never revenge rather he was patient, perseverant hoping they would be Muslims. HIS MERCY AND COMPASSION ON HUMANITY AT LARGE: From ‘Abdullah Ibn 'Amr Ibn Al-Aas, that the Prophet recited the words of Allah in Surat Ibrahim: { رَبِّ إِنَّهُنَّ أَضْلَلْنَ كَثِيرًا مِنَ النَّاسِ فَمَنْ تَبِعَنِي فَإِنَّهُ مِنِّي } (إبراهيم : 36) "O my Lord! they have indeed led astray many among mankind; He then who follows my (ways) is of me, and he that disobeys me,- but Thou art indeed Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. (14:36). And Jesus said: { إِنْ تُعَذِّبْهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ عِبَادُكَ وَإِن تَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ فَإِنَّكَ أَنْتَ العَزِيزُ الحَكِيمُ } (المائدة : 118 ) . “"If Thou dost punish them, they are Thy servant: If Thou dost forgive them, Thou art the Exalted in power, the Wise." (5:118). He then raised his hands and said: “O Lord, my Ummah, my Ummah, he cried, then Allah said: “O Jibreel go to Muhammed-and your Lord knows best-ask him why he cries? Jibril came to him, he asks him, the prophet replied him as said- he knew best- Allah said: “O Jibril go to Muhammad and say: “We will make you satisfied and pleased with your nation, and we would not be wicked to you (narrated by Muslim). This supported by Allah’s word: { وَلَسَوفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَى } (الضحى 5) . “And soon will thy Guardian-Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased.” (93:5) Perhaps one of the most emphatic manifestations of his compassion and mercy for his Ummah would be on the day of resurrection when he will intercede for them on a day when the newborn will turn grey hair due to the calamity of the day. In the hadith of Anas Ibn Malik which is very long, here is an excerpt of the hadith: “Then I will ask for my Lord's permission, and it will be given, and then He will inspire me to praise Him with such praises as I do not know now. So I will praise Him with those praises and will fall down, prostrate before Him. Then it will be said, 'O Muhammad, raise your head and speak, for you will be listened to; and ask, for your will be granted (your request); and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted.' I will say, 'O Lord, my followers! My followers!' And then it will be said, 'Go and take out of Hell (Fire) all those who have faith in their hearts, equal to the weight of a barley grain.' I will go and do so and return to praise Him with the same praises, and fall down (prostrate) before Him. Then it will be said, 'O Muhammad, raise your head and speak, for you will be listened to, and ask, for you will be granted (your request); and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted.' I will say, 'O Lord, my followers! My followers!' It will be said, 'Go and take out of it all those who have faith in their hearts equal to the weight of a small ant or a mustard seed.' I will go and do so and return to praise Him with the same praises, and fall down in prostration before Him. It will be said, 'O, Muhammad, raise your head and speak, for you will be listened to, and ask, for you will be granted (your request); and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted.' I will say, 'O Lord, my followers!' Then He will say, 'Go and take out (all those) in whose hearts there is faith even to the lightest, lightest mustard seed. (Take them) out of the Fire.' I will go and do so." (Muslim, 1/182-183, the book of faith) This represents bright images of what teaches us the great aspect of compassion and mercy of the Prophet to his nation. {لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِمَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُو اللَّهَ وَالْيَوْمَ اْلآخِرَ وَذَكَرَ اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا } (الأحزاب : 21) “O Prophet! Fear Allah, and hearken not to the Unbelievers and the Hypocrites: verily Allah is full of Knowledge and Wisdom.” (33:21) May Allah bless us all by the Holy Quran and benefit us with it. THE SECOND SERMON Praise be to Allah for His goodness and grace, I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, He has no partner, and I testify that Muhammad is his servant and Messenger, may Allah bless him and his families, brothers and companions. Thereafter, O servants of Allah! Fear Allah in the right manner and work by being obedient to Him. Dear Muslims, Allah created man in the best mould, in the most beautiful image, and He blessed him with all the necessities of life and livelihoods including food and water, health and wind, and other than that in the heavens and the Earth. Allah says: (وَسَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ جَمِيعاً مِّنْهُ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لآيَاتٍ لَّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ} (الجاثية:13). And He has subjected to you, as from Him, all that is in the heavens and on earth: Behold, in that are Signs indeed for those who reflect. (45:13) He made laws that could guard his life, which will give him a peace and safety in life, happiness and contentment. He legislate what would safeguard for him all the five necessities of life, including; religion, intellect, soul, dignity, and wealth. Therefore shedding of innocent blood remains the greatest and most horrible sin because that act runs contrary to the divine essence of creation. It is not surprising that Islam considers killing as one of the greatest major sins, it places it next to joining partner with Allah in several verses. Allah says: {قُلْ تَعَالَوْاْ أَتْلُ مَا حَرَّمَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ أَلاَّ تُشْرِكُواْ بِهِ شَيْئاً وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَاناً وَلاَ تَقْتُلُواْ أَوْلاَدَكُم مِّنْ إمْلاَقٍ نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُكُمْ وَإِيَّاهُمْ وَلاَ تَقْرَبُواْ الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ وَلاَ تَقْتُلُواْ النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللّهُ إِلاَّ بِالْحَقِّ ذَلِكُمْ وَصَّاكُمْ بِهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ} (الأنعام: 151). Say: "Come, I will rehearse what Allah hath (really) prohibited you from": Join not anything as equal with Him; be good to your parents; kill not your children on a plea of want;- We provide sustenance for you and for them;- come not nigh to shameful deeds. Whether open or secret; take not life, which Allah hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom. (6:151). He also listed the attributes of the servant of the Merciful God in Suratul- Furqaan thus: { وَالَّذِينَ لاَ يَدْعُونَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَهاً آخَرَ وَلاَ يَقْتُلُونَ النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ إِلاَّ بِالْحَقِّ وَلاَ يَزْنُونَ وَمَن يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ يَلْقَ أَثَاماً) إلى أن قال: (يُضَاعَفْ لَهُ الْعَذَابُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَيَخْلُدْ فِيهِ مُهَاناً, إِلاَّ مَن تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ عَمَلاً صَالِحاً فَأُوْلَئِكَ يُبَدِّلُ اللَّهُ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ حَسَنَاتٍ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُوراً رَّحِيماً}(الفرقان: 68 – 70). Those who invoke not, with Allah, any other god, nor slay such life as Allah has made sacred except for just cause, nor commit fornication; - and any that does this (not only) meets punishment. (But) the Penalty on the Day of Judgment will be doubled to him, and he will dwell therein in ignominy, Unless he repents, believes, and works righteous deeds, for Allah will change the evil of such persons into good, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (25:68-70) Anas Ibn Malik may Allah be pleased with him, related from the Prophet (PBUH): “The greatest of major sins are: Joining partners with Allah, killing, disobedience to parents, and false speech” (Al-Bukhari). This is our religion, the religion of peace and tolerance. May Allah forgive the believers- men and women, Muslims- men and women, the living and the dead, for You are All- hearing, Ever- near and Ever- responsive to calls. O Allah make us thankful to you, uphold your remembrance, make us repentant. O Allah accept our repentance, cleanse our sins, answer our prayers, establish our proof, guard our hearts, strengthen our tongue, obliterate our rancor, Oh Allah give us tranquility in our nation and homes, safe us from trials and evils, reform our leaders. Our lord give us goodness in this life and the hereafter, and safe us from the torment of the hellfire.

VALENTINE’S DAY: REALITY, HISTORY AND JUDGEMENT

All praises are due to Allah Who has set us on the true religion; the right path. He Has honoured us through faith, He favours our religion- Islam over other religions. I praise and thank Him gracefully for all His blessings on human beings and jinns. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, He Has no partner. Allah warned against following and supporting the unbelievers, He commanded us to differ from them. Allah the Exalted said: { O ye who believe! take not for friends and protectors those who take your religion for a mockery or sport,- whether among those who received the Scripture before you, or among those who reject Faith; but fear ye Allah, if ye have faith (indeed). (5: 57) Equally, I bear witness that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is His slave and Messenger who said: (whoever imitates a people is one of them). May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, his household and companions, till the day of recompense. Thereafter, O people fear Allah- your Lord, He (SWT) actually deserves to be feared, through obedience and showing gratitude to Him and shunning disobedience or ingratitude. { أَفَغَيْرَ اللَّهِ تَتَّقُونَ } (النحل: 52) (then will ye fear other than Allah?)(16: 52) COMPLETE RELIGION; COMPLETE FAVOUR Dear faithfuls, Allah (SWT) endowed us with a great religion, He guided us to a straight path- full of riches and satisfaction, happiness and guidance, security and peace, love and harmony. Whoever accepts it Allah elevates and honours him in the proportion of his acceptance, but whoever rejects it He debases him in the proportion of his rejection. Islam has been completed; it is not in need of any additional opinion, idea or view. The grace was fulfilled with faith, joy and pleasure has been completed, then after these favours, it has no need for the innovation of a season or festival of joy. Allah says: {الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمْ الإِسْلامَ دِينًا} (المائدة:3) “This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.” (5: 3). THE BEAUTY OF ISLAM Our religion is the best of all religions, having the best laws, it is a religion with moderation and balance; without excesses or negligence, devoid of extravagance and stinginess, it has no space for seduction or celibacy, and neither for excessiveness or deficiency. Allah says: {وَكَذالِكَ جَعَلْنَاكُمْ أُمَّةً وَسَطًا لّتَكُونُواْ شُهَدَاء عَلَى النَّاسِ وَيَكُونَ الرَّسُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ شَهِيدًا} (البقرة: 143) “Thus, have We made of you an Ummat justly balanced, that ye might be witnesses over the nations, and the Messenger a witness over yourselves” (Al-baqarah: 143) Islam is religion that strives to achieve a combination of the goodness of life and the hereafter- it grows the soul and never neglect the flesh, Allah the Exalted says: {وَابْتَغِ فِيمَا ءاتَاكَ اللَّهُ الدَّارَ الآخِرَةَ وَلاَ تَنسَ نَصِيبَكَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا} (القصص: 77). {"But seek, through that which Allah has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world.} (28: 77). By Allah, how can a Muslim who is favorably positioned by Allah be pleased to desecrate this honour? How can he be satisfied to become a follower having been a leader? How could he subscribe to be an emulator after being a guide? How would he accept fall down from being a path finder to become a stranded groper or to become a slave after being a master. But the Prophet (PBUH) said: “certainly you shall follow the ways of who came before you; inch by inch, cubit by cubit, even if they enter the crawlspace of the alligator you will follow them”, they said: “O Messenger of God, the Jews and Christians? He replied: “Who then?!” Narrated by Al-bukhaari and Muslim from the hadeeth of Abu Sa'eed Al-khudri may Allah be pleased with him.

DECEIT BY JEWS AND CHRISTIANS AGAINST THE ISLAMIC NATION: The cunnings of the Jews and Christians against the Islamic nation are no hidden fact, their effort to eliminate its ethical values and principles, they commit the best of their time and money to this mission, they utilize many intellectuals and resources, they develop curricula and projects. Without doubt, their plans really worked! And why wouldn’t it work? It is a natural law that whoever strives will achieve, whoever sows shall harvest. Today, we witness things that were inexistence before now, we see tempting nudity, excessive globetrotting in the neighbourhood, we witness audacious attack against the religion and boastfulness with sins, let alone casting doubt over well established fundamental peculiarities of the Islamic nation, and to destabilize its principles. The situation is made worse by the liberality and openness enjoyed by the media which made it viewable to all people, thereby, enhances the fast and easy spread of the symbols and culture of the disbelievers. They transmit overwhelmingly orchestrated audios and live visual programs from their countries to our homes through satellite and Internet, unfortunately, many Muslims fell prey to this deceit. The armies and soldiers of atheism are regrouping newly, waxing strong and promoting a festival, what could be more deceitful? As a cover for their pranks, they christened it a noble name so as to deceive the unsuspecting virtuous, righteous mind. They call it Lover’s Day or Valentine's day, in real fact, it is a festival of vice and immorality, they spread vices but clothe themselves with garment of virtues. Customarily this is an old practice of the devil exposed in the Holy Qur’an, Allah uncovers his trick to His servants. Allah (SWT) as He declares the deceit of Shaytan with Adam and Hawaa thus: {وَقَاسَمَهُمَا إِنِّي لَكُمَا لَمِنْ النَّاصِحِينَ} (الأعراف:21). (And he swore to them both, that he was their sincere adviser.) (7: 21) THE HISTORY OF VALENTINE'S DAY Muslims beware of the misleading deceiver that comes as a trustworthy adviser but he is a deceiver. {وَيَمْكُرُونَ وَيَمْكُرُ اللَّهُ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَ} (الأنفال:30) { They plot and plan, and Allah too plans; but the best of planners is Allah.} (Al-Anfal: 30). Do you know the history of this festival? They claimed that Romans pagan was celebrating on February 15 of each year, and this day coincides with the spring holiday break, at that time, Christianity was at the beginning of its call, Emperor Claudius II issued an order to prevent soldiers from marriage. There was a Christian monk named Valentine who defied this order and conducted marriage contracts secretly. When his action was exposed, he was sentenced to death. While in prison, he fell in love with the daughter of the jailer, secretly, because the Christian law forbids priests and monks from marriages and emotional ties. His firmness on Christianity interceded for him, where the Emperor offered him amnesty, closeness, and relationship by marriage with the condition of leaving Christianity and to worship the Romans gods, but he rejected this offer and he was executed on February 14, the year 270 C.E corresponding to night of February 15- feast of the Romans. After this event he was called the Saint. With the spread of Christianity in Europe February 14 became the feast day, referred to as St. Valentine feast, to commemorate his memory, for the ransom he made with his life for Christianity. This is the story of this holiday, however, unfortunately many young men and women are deceived by this owing to their weak faith, ignorance, heedlessness, lack of guidance from righteous preachers. They were tricked and got deceived and attracted to this holiday, and just like that they relax to celebrate … no power and no strength except in Allah almighty. SOME IMPORTANT MANIFESTATIONS OF VALENTINE’S DAY Brothers in Islam, the following represent most important manifestations of Valentine’s Day: 1. Display of joy and happiness as they do in other important festivals. 2. Wearing red dresses and exchange of Red Roses, as an expression of love- love as divine god for the pagans and love as a passion for the Christians, a reason why it called Valentine’s Day. 3. Distribution of greeting cards carrying the image of the Cupid- a child having two wings and holding a bow and an arrow. It is the god of love for the pagan roman nation. Exalted is Allah above their falsehood and polytheism. 4. Exchange of flowery words of love and passion through the mutually exchanged greeting cards through composition of poetry, prose or short sentences. Some other greeting cards have pictures of smiling images and humorous words. it is a common practice to have phrase like “be my valentine” . This represents a Christian concept after its transformation from the pagan concept. 5. In many Christian countries, concerts and parties are held days and nights, dancers display, gifts and telegrams are sent, wives or girlfriends are remembered, infact that is seen as a sign of sincerity of love, while whoever do not congratulate his wife, or fail to present her gift is not regarded as being a sincere lover. Such gifts include roses, boxes of chocolates to their spouses, friends and loved ones. THE ISLAMIC JUDGEMENT ON CELEBRATING VALENTINE’S DAY Muslims and those who celebrate Valentine’s Day need to know that this act is one of the greatest heretic innovation which is haraam (a forbidden act) in Islam, there is no dispute among credible scholars over this matter. If this feast was invented by Muslims it would have been declared haraam not to talk of where it was an innovation of strayed disbelievers. The prophet (PBUH) said: (Whoever brings an innovation in this matter of ours, will have it rejected) narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim, ' When the prophet (PBUH) got to madinah, he met the people taking two days as holiday which form part of the pagan festivals, he told them thus: (God has replaced the two days with better days for your sake; Eid al-Adha and the day of Al-Fitr) narrated by Ahmad, Abu Dawood and Al-Nasaa'i. Al-Haafiz Ibn Hajar said: “It is deducible from this hadith, that, it is disliked to be joyous at, or imitate festivals of the unbelievers” Sheikh Abu Hafs An-Nasafi said: “Whoever presents a Mushrik (an idolator) with an egg on that day, as a form of veneration for the day has committed disbelieve in Allah” (Fathul- Baari). The Saudi Arabia Standing Committee was asked about Valentine’s Day here is the excerpt of the response: “It is haraam (forbidden) for a Muslim to support such feast or any of the other forbidden festivals in any form including eating or drinking, buying or selling, manufacturing or production, gifts, exchange of messages, advertisement or otherwise, because that would translate to giving support to sins, hostility, and disobedience to Allah (SWT) and the Messenger (PBUH). Allah says: { Help ye one another in righteousness and piety, but help ye not one another in sin and rancour: fear Allah: for Allah is strict in punishment.} (Q5: 2). A Muslim must hold firmly to the Qur'aan and Sunnah in all conditions, especially in times of temptation and corruption. He should be wise and cautious of falling into the misguidance of those who have gone astray those upon whom the wrath of Allah descends. A Muslim should turn to God for guidance and steadfastness, for there is no one who gives guidance and steadfastness thereafter except Allah.” THE MEANING AND OF LOVE IN ISLAM Dear faithfuls in Allah, love to a Muslim is great in meaning, Ibn Al-Qayyim says: “With love and through was the Earth and Heavens formed, all creatures were built on love, the flowing celestial bodies in the orbits flow on it, through love movements reach its goal, the beginnings connect with the end, the souls gain its objectives and purpose, it get rid of its obstructions, so as to advance towards its Lord. Through it, it wins a good life and tastes the taste of faith having chosen Allah as the Lord, Islam as the religion and Muhammad as the messenger”. (Raodatul- Muhebbeen). The prophet demonstrated the finest example of love according to the account given by Aishah about the prophet’s sincere and continuous fulfillment to Khadijah (RA) as she said: “I have never been jealous about any of the prophet’s wives the way I did about Khadijah (RA), she died three years before my marriage to the prophet, whenever I hear him mention her- In another word- ‘out of the prophet’s continuous remembrance of her- , and he will slaughter a sheep and give her friends of it. (narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim). This is a firm love which stands as evidence for a righteous deed. The prophet did guide the Muslim Ummah to ways of achieving love among themselves, even beyond that he linked between love with attainment of paradise. He said: (You can not enter paradise except with faith, and you will not have faith except you love one another. Do I direct you to an act, if you do it you will love one anther? “spread salutation of peace amongst yourselves”. (Muslim). Muslim youth- male and female, fear Allah and contravene to the Jews and Christians on everything as they contradict you, Allah says: {They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they)} (4: 89), The prophet said: (whoever imitates a people is one of them) narrated by Ahmad and Abu Dawood. Shaykh Al-Islam Ibn taymiyah said: “the simplest thing this hadith point to is that it is haraam to imitate them ... “ THE SECOND KHUTBAH Praise be to Allah, the end belong to the pious, enmity is to the transgressors of the bounds of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah alone and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, the master of the former and the latter generations. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, his household and all his companions. Thereafter, Servants of God: Islam pays attention to security in the society, it initiates commands, forbids corruption and vices, and it establish punishments, checks and deterrent. Allah, the Exalted says: {وَتَعَاوَنُواْ عَلَى الْبرِ وَالتَّقْوَى وَلاَ تَعَاوَنُواْ عَلَى الإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ} (المائدة2). { Help ye one another in righteousness and piety, but help ye not one another in sin and rancour: fear Allah: for Allah is strict in punishment.} (Q5: 2). Allah informs that security is guaranteed for those that do righteousness and stand on the path of guidance and shun the path of vices. Allah says: { الَّذِينَ ءامَنُواْ وَلَمْ يَلْبِسُواْ إِيمَانَهُمْ بِظُلْمٍ أُوْلَئِكَ لَهُمُ الاْمْنُ وَهُمْ مُّهْتَدُونَ} (الأنعام:82). "It is those who believe and confuse not their beliefs with wrong - that are (truly) in security, for they are on (right) guidance." (6:82) When the prophet cites the new moon he would say: (O Allah! Sustain it over us with security, faith and Islam, the crescent of good and guidance, my Lord and your Lord is Allah) narrated by Ahmad and Al-Tirmidhi. Islam ensures security in the society by deals practically with the oppressors and aggressors to life and properties to prevent them from committing crimes which will serve as deterrent to others like him from oppression and aggression. Islam is a religion of Justice, a religion of mercy and goodness, it never orders his followers except good, and it never forbids them except from evil and harmful things. For these reasons, it places harsh punishment for those who terrorize people and intimidate them by such as bringandage, kidnapping and others. Allah says: {إِنَّمَا جَزَاءُ الَّذِينَ يُحَارِبُونَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِي اْلأَرْضِ فَسَادًا أَنْ يُقَتَّلُوا أَوْ يُصَلَّبُوا أَوْ تُقَطَّعَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَرْجُلُهُمْ مِنْ خِلَافٍ أَوْ يُنْفَوْا مِنَ الأَرْضِ ذَلِكَ لَهُمْ خِزْيٌ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَلَهُمْ فِي اْلآخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ , إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ تَابُوا مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تَقْدِرُوا عَلَيْهِمْ فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ} (المائدة : 33 - 34). “The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter, except for those who repent before they fall into your power: in that case, know that Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.” (5: 33- 34) May Allah forgive the believers- men and women, Muslims- men and women, the living and the dead, for You are All- hearing, Ever- near and Ever- responsive to calls. O Allah honour Islam and Muslims, humiliate idolatory and idolaters, destroy Your enemies, the enemies of Your religion, and make this country- Nigeria safe, confident, generous, promote her welfare and that of all other Muslim countries.

THE MESSAGE

Praise be to Allah Who honoured Islam through the Migration of the leader of Mankind, and elevated the Muslims’ condition by adorning them the crown of support, victory and honour. I praise Him, The Exalted, I repent unto Him, seek His forgiveness, and to Him shall all affairs return. He is the Pardoner, The Oft- Forgiving Lord. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone with no partner, a testimony that benefits the possessor on that day when those in the graves shall be in commotion and that which is (locked up) in (human) breasts is made manifest. And I bear witness that our Prophet Muhammad- THE SERVANT of Allah and His Messenger, the chosen and beloved prophet, may Allah bless him, his family and his companions as long as the seas remain spread, and day and night successively alternate each other, and his successors and those who followed them until the Day of resurrection and in abundant peace. O you people: fear Allah your Lord, for He- The Almighty, is surely deserving to be feared by being obeyed and not disobeyed, and remembered and not forgotten, and thanked not being ungrateful to. { then will ye fear other than Allah? (Nahl: 52). {And remind them of the days of Allah} (Ibrahim: 5) Importance of Remembrance of the prophet’s Migration: Muslim brothers and Sisters, the migration of the Prophet Muhammad- peace be upon him, from Mecca to Medina recurs annually to the memory of the Islamic nation at the beginning of every Hijrah year. This event, which changed the face of human history, where in (ie migration) dawah became proactively progressive, the Islamic state became established, its components defined, the Islamic Call got launched to the worlds (of all races); black and white, and red and yellow, apparently, Islam became a religion for the entire worlds, and it became the fastest growing religion on earth despite the weakness of his faithfuls, producing a nation which led the human race and took them away from the worship of slaves to the worship of the Lord of the Worlds and from narrowness of the world to its expanse and away from the injustices of religions to the justice of Islam. Definition of immigration: The word immigration _ oh worshipers of Allah _ has two meanings in the Quran, the first: to move away from something and hateful avoidance of a person. Allah says: ((O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)!)) till the statement: ((And all abomination shun!)) Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with the two, said: Ar-Rujza is the idols. Dahhaak said: ((And all abomination shun!)) meaning- leave sins. Meaning therefore, that a Muslim should dissociate himself away from everything people worship other than Allah: fetish images, trees, stones, mountains and others as well as withdraw from trust in other than God, seeking help and protection from other than Allah, and avoid also all sins such as the sins of usury, bribery, gambling and fraud, deception and theft, murder and banditry, hatred and envy, lying and betrayal, prostitution, adultery, sodomy and nudity, drinking alcohol and drug abuse and other forms of sins- and habits of ignorance. This is what the prophet (pbuh) referred in his saying: ((The Immigrant is the one who migrated from all Allah Has forbidden)) (agreed upon). And he also says: ((The Immigrant is the one who emigrate from evil deeds)). , Truly speaking, migration is abstaining from sins and evil deeds ... migration from desires and suspicious acts ... migration from evil gatherings .. migration away from path to hellfire to path to Paradise. The second meaning: Leaving a land or country to another due to injustice, instability, and persecution in religion. Allah says: “He who forsakes his home in the cause of Allah, finds in the earth Many a refuge, wide and spacious: Should he die as a refugee from home for Allah and His Messenger, His reward becomes due and sure with Allah: And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful”. (Nisaa: 100) “Those who believed and those who suffered exile and fought (and strove and struggled) in the path of Allah,- they have the hope of the Mercy of Allah: And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Baqarah: 218) From this we realized that God made migration a sufficient relief and medication for the Muslims in order to be safe from all that God has forbidden and from all forms of error and darkness of ignorance. May Allah benefit us with the Qur'aan and the guidance of prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. May He guide us to the Straight Path and protect us from the path of dwellers of hell. I say this, and ask forgiveness of God for me and you and the other Muslims from all guilt and sins, do seek His forgiveness, He is Most Forgiving, Merciful. Second Sermon Praise be to Allah, The Guide to the straight path. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and I bear witness that the Prophet Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, May God bless and invoke His peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, the envoy of mercy to the worlds, and upon his family and companions, and whoever follow his guidance till the Day of Judgment. O slaves of Allah, fear Allah Almighty in the right proportion of piety, and be committed to His obedience and pleasure. Muslim brothers and sisters! You are in the month of Muharram, one of the four sacred months which are: Dhul- Qa’dah, Dhul-Hijjah, Muharram and Rajab. This month possesses certain virtues which are not found in other months. Among these is the virtue of fasting in it. Abu Hurairah narrated that The Messenger of Allah said: ((the best fasting after the month of Ramadan is in the month of Allah, Muharram, and the best prayer after the obligatory ones is the night prayer)) Among the specialties of this month is the virtue of fasting on the day of 'Ashura, the tenth day of Muharram. In the Sound collections, A'isha (R.A) said: (Ashura used to be a day the Quraish observed for fast during the days of Ignorance and the Prophet did fast in it. When he entered the city of Madinah he fasted it and ordered people to fast the day, however, when Ramadan was made obligatory, he fasted it and left the day of Ashura, thus whoever will could observe it and whoever wish otherwise could break it) Ibn Abbas said: When the Messenger of Allah reached Madinah, he found the Jews fasting on the day of Ashura, Messenger of Allah said to them: ((What is this day you fast in? They said: This is a great day when Allaah saved Musa and his people and drowned Pharaoh and his people so Musa fasted as gratitude to Allah and we used to fast on that day, the Messenger of Allah said: We possess more right to Musa than you, so the messenger of Allah fasted and ordered people to observe its fast)) Salamah ibn al-Akwa narrated that the Prophet peace be upon him: ((ordered a man of Aslam to make a call to people thus- “whoever have eaten should fast the rest of the day and whoever have not eaten, let him fast, for today is the day of Ashura. )) Abu Qatada related, a man asked the Prophet about fasting on Ashura, he said: ((I hope God will expiate the sins of a year before it)) "Muslim". Ibn Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah said: ((If I live until next year I will certainly fast the ninth with the tenth meaning Ashura)) "Muslim" being different to the Jews. Strive to fast other day in the month beyond the Ashura, such as Mondays and Thursday, 13th, 14th and 15th days of the month. Strive to increase yourself in good deeds as a provision you put forward for your soul for tomorrow. Allah says: “Then shall anyone who has done an atom's weight of good, see it!, And anyone who has done an atom's weight of evil, shall see it”. (Zalzalah: 7 - 8). Be prepared to profit yourself from this life for you may not know if the night comes over your whether you will live to see the approaching dawn. O Muslims, remember your Muslim brothers in Gaza and Palestine in your prayers because the Israeli occupation authorities feel not satisfied with the advances of its army, from the invasion of towns and villages, the killing of innocent people and the siege imposed on the rest of Palestinian land, and terrorizing peaceful citizens with home demolition and leveling of the lands. Since 1948, Palestinians have been subjected to continuous Israeli terrorism, hundreds of villages were ruined and wiped completely off the map, tens of thousands of homes destroyed and bombed, tens of thousands of men, women and children were exterminated, thousands became stricken with blindness, paralysis, disability and complete deformation, tens of thousands were arrested and tortured in order to eliminate the Palestinian resistance which have been challenging the Israeli occupation. The Zionist entity fearlessly and brutally bombed women and children through the use of tanks, helicopters and even fighter jets to drop bombs and firing rockets into the heart of residential neighborhoods with all it contains including thousands of children and women. These weapons cannot distinguish between the so-called terrorists and a little child of eight month old, these weapons murdered young children and civilians haphazardly. The Zionist entity attacked the homes of the families of activists of the Palestinian resistance movements in the Gaza Strip with tanks, bombs, missiles, and Israeli bulldozers destroyed their homes and displaced their families while thousands of homes have been destroyed in this manner. O Allah be with our Muslim brothers in Palestine, assist them over their enemies, provide them security in their homes, drive away the Jews submissively and dejected from the land of Palestine and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, O Lord of the Worlds.
